Questions people ask
More answers on the support page.
Do I need a DJ controller?
No. PixelDJ is played with your laptop keyboard. Every control has a key.
Can I use Spotify or Apple Music?
No. Music in streaming apps is protected and only plays inside those apps, so PixelDJ can't open it, and won't try to get around that.
PixelDJ plays MP3, WAV and FLAC files that are on your computer.
How do I connect my Bluetooth speaker?
Pair it with your laptop in Windows first, then pick it in PixelDJ.
- Turn on Bluetooth. On your laptop, press the Windows key, type Bluetooth and open Bluetooth and other devices settings. Switch Bluetooth on.
- Pair your speaker in Windows. Turn the speaker on and hold its Bluetooth button until its light flashes. In the same settings, choose Add device (Add Bluetooth or other device on Windows 10), then Bluetooth, then your speaker. Wait until Windows says it's connected. You only do this once.
- Pick it in PixelDJ. Open the Speaker list at the top of PixelDJ and choose your speaker. Not in the list? Choose Connect a Bluetooth speaker there and press Connect next to it.
Next time, turn the speaker on and pick it in PixelDJ.
How much is PixelDJ?
Try it free for 14 days, with no credit card. Then it's $4.99/month or $19.99/year. Both are the entire app, and so is the trial.
Nothing is charged when the trial ends. The pricing page has the rest.
Does PixelDJ need the internet?
Only now and then. It goes online to start your free trial and to check your subscription, and plays offline in between. Your music stays on your computer, and PixelDJ plays it there.
How do I install PixelDJ on Mac OS?
You can't yet. There's no Mac OS version. It's planned, and the download page will have it once it's ready and tested. The Windows version won't run on a Mac.
Ready for your first mix?
Two practice songs come with PixelDJ, so you can start mixing the moment it opens.
Coming soon for Windows 10 and 11. A Mac OS version is on the way.
